YUHSB Pillars

Centennial Course

Over the course of the 2015-16 academic year – leading up to the milestone Centennial year – YUHSB offered a senior elective known as the “Centennial Course,” which focused on the school’s proud history and its critical role in shaping Orthodox Judaism in America. In addition to learning about what Judaism in America was like during the era of the school’s founding in the early 20th Century, the students also learned filmmaking and interview techniques. Working with noted educator and Director of Special Programs Mrs. Tova Fish-Rosenberg and talented filmmaker Michael Puro, the students interviewed a variety of alumni and documented their YUHSB stories. Ultimately, the students filmed and edited a small series of short documentary films, which will be posted over the course of the Centennial year on this page.
